Aging Skin + our Recommended Skincare Routine

Are you 40+ and curious about the condition of your skin as you age? Read below for more answers. Disclaimer: it's normal and natural for your skin to age as you age, too! Be kind to yourself.

We know, it isn't nice to ask someone their age. But in the skincare world, it's important to know your skin's age to determine the proper skincare routine for the stage your skin is in. So, politely, we ask, are you 40+?

Wrinkles and reduced skin firmness get a lot of attention in the beauty world. They can give the impression that you look tired and sad though you actually feel energized and full of life! As we know, our skin's cell renewal slows down as we age, and for women, this process is expedited by menopause, overall resulting in loss of skin firmness. However, aging skin doesn't just target women, it also targets men. For men, their hormonal decline is more gradual, but nonetheless, their skin profile also results in aging skin through signs of wrinkles and sagging skin. Since our hormones start declining in our forties, this leads to a decrease in collagen and elastin production in our skin, ultimately leading to signs of aging skin.

Of course, there are other contributing factors to premature skin aging, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, your surrounding environment, and sun exposure (don't worry, we have you covered for sun protection) being some of the biggest contributors. So you may be asking, what does being 40+ have to do with aging skin and if aging skin is inevitable, what can I really do about it?
